The Brief

Two stories the industry keeps getting wrong.

The first is search. Legal has gone the way of every other Google category: ads, AI Overviews, zero-click results. A commercial-lawyer click on Google Ads costs ten to fifty dollars. Every firm PCL competes with is now paying it. PCL isn’t. The flagship earns 62,053 organic clicks a year, one hundred and seventy new people arriving from unpaid Google every single day.

The second is AI. The received wisdom in professional services is that AI can’t be trusted with clients: too much liability, too much nuance, too much brand at stake. That’s true when you point it at automation. It stops being true the moment you use it to augment the humans instead of replace them. Pearl, PCL’s AI phone assistant, doesn’t decide anything a lawyer should. It picks up when the phone goes quiet, chases the document a partner needs, spots a client going silent before a statutory deadline, and hands the moment that matters to the lawyer who owns it.

One firm, and two conclusions the rest of the market got backwards.

The AI Layer

Pearl, the AI that augments the firm.

A copilot that catches the moments a firm otherwise loses. The decisions stay with the lawyers.

Inbound and outbound callsLive

Answers the phone when reception can't. Chases documents. Confirms appointments. Hands the sensitive conversations back to the right lawyer, briefed on what was said.

Matter risk radarLive

Flags a director who has gone silent in the week before a statutory deadline. Watches quote-to-retained slippage. Catches receivables drifting overdue before the pattern hardens.

Referral and upgrade predictionLive

Scores which clients are most likely to refer or expand their matter, so the right follow-up happens in the window it converts, not two months later.

Practice revenue mixLive

Utilisation and revenue by lawyer and by practice area, updated as matters move rather than at month-end.

This is Pearl, running live under the PCL brand, not a mockup. The clients, matters and calls inside are a built demo set, disconnected from the firm's real clients and systems. Open Pearl in the frame below and ask her anything.

Flagship organic clicks / month
Mar 2025 2026 Jun 2026

The flagship 62,053 Organic clicks a year, to the flagship alone. 9.58M impressions behind them. The channel every competitor now pays for, on unpaid rankings that keep working while they sleep.
The specialists 12,027 Additional organic clicks across the sub-brands. Conveyancing Depot alone carries 10,673 of them, a second front door that ranks for terms the flagship doesn't chase.
The brand 56.63% Click-through rate on the pcl lawyers query. Position 1.31, 9,360 clicks from 16,527 impressions. When someone searches PCL, they arrive.
What compounds Every organic click PCL earns this year is one their competitors pay ten to fifty dollars for. Every call Pearl catches is one the firm otherwise loses. And that is the conservative read: commercial matters valued at the bottom of the band, and not a cent counted for the referrals, upgrades and saved matters Pearl catches.
The Quiet Numbers

What it's actually worth.

The business underneath the traffic, at the rates the market actually pays.

Commercial & litigation arm $13.2M New business a year, at the conservative end of commercial matter values. 62,366 clicks to the flagship and Litigation Lawyers become roughly 3,100 enquiries. Nine in ten inbound enquiries retain. That is 2,650 matters a year, valued at the floor of what commercial work bills.
Conveyancing arm $900K New business a year at fixed-fee conveyancing rates. 11,414 clicks across Conveyancing Depot and Conveyancing Melbourne Lawyers become roughly 570 enquiries and 485 settled matters.
Property, lease & business arm $1.4M New business a year across the three specialist practices. 330 tracked enquiries across Property Lawyers Melbourne, Business Lawyers Melbourne and Lease Lawyers, retained at the same rate the rest of the group enjoys.
The number $15.5M a year in new business, off search the firm doesn't pay a dollar a click for. And that is the conservative read: commercial matters valued at the bottom of the band, and not a cent counted for the referrals, upgrades and saved matters Pearl catches.

Because in a world of fleeting trends and market noise, the only real strategy is to build something unmistakable.
